BOB & CLAIRE PITTMAN, (Painter & Poet) Team up for Unique Show at the Pamlico Library, Bayboro - Month of February

Born in Kinston, North Carolina, Bob was educated at N.C. State University, receiving degrees in civil and construction engineering. As a consulting engineer in Greenville, NC, he found time to study art at ECU. He has served as president of the East Carolina Art Society and treasurer of the N.C. Watercolor Society. He has had numerous one-man shows and has won awards for his paintings. He specializes in landscapes and seascapes in both watercolors and oils or acrylics.
Currently, he is teaching an art course at Pamlico Community College.
Bob's paintings reflect his deep love for nature he developed fishing and boating along the waterways of his home turf in eastern North Carolina, a love he delights in sharing with others. Over the years, he fell in love with Oriental as he built his vacation house there, a summer cottage locally known as “the Tree House” or “Swiss Family Robinson.” Today he and Claire feel especially fortunate to be permanent residents of Oriental and to be able to paint and write about their “little piece of Heaven.” For more of his work, visit www.bobpittmanart.com
Claire has won awards for her poems and has published in a number of journals. Since moving to Oriental she has given several readings and has gathered a small group of poets who enjoy having breakfast together bi-monthly and sharing their poems. She serves as vice-president of the Pamlico Arts Council.
Partnering with poet-novelist Sheila Turnage, Claire has conducted several poetry workshops in Oriental for Riverside Retreats. Her next workshop will be sponsored by Primetime at the Oriental United Methodist Church in March. Anyone interested in writing poetry is welcome. For more information call the church at 249-0213
