The Story

Born out of the Covid-19 Lockdowns, Pirate Jam is a nod to our true pirate heritage; honoring the need to get out; to celebrate life, environment, and community.  It’s even held in the community of Teach’s Cove on what is known as Teach’s point,

both named for notorious pirate Edward Teach himself!

This outdoor on-water music event features a fantastic line up of bands on land, while the audience floats, sails, or paddles to attend by water.

Pirate Jam has become so popular with the community and visitors alike, that it has expanded to a multi day celebration.  From a Pirate Movie Night to a Pirate Crawl and more, this annual event celebrates the official end of the summer holiday.

To fund this free event, the Pirate Jam Burgee was developed and has become a collectible item, reminding its collectors to support our local businesses and burgee sponsors.

During Pirate Month, we take the opportunity to honor Edward Teach, or Blackbeard, the greatest pirate who ever lived. He is the namesake of the where Pirate Jam is held (Teach’s Point).  His ship once sailed the waters of our coast, and his legend lives on to this day.
