From their beginnings at the former Village Gallery in Oriental, artists from the area banded together to form the new Broad Strokes Gallery (BSG) and were born again under the Pamlico Arts Council. Our community is better for this collaboration which will increase our ability to make art accessible to all.

Guest Artist Spotlight
Quin Dionne
We are delighted to feature Quin Dionne as our January Guest Artist. You may recognize her luminous work from the Core Sound Waterfowl Museum & Heritage Center on Harkers Island. Quin’s artistic journey is nothing short of magical. Her paintings radiate wonder, capturing the beauty found in life’s small, often-overlooked moments.
With a rare ability to find light in the darkest corners, Quin brings a unique curiosity to her work. She draws inspiration from the ever-changing sky, the sea, and the quiet discoveries found while wandering the woods or gliding through the waters of Harkers Island. So deeply moved by the beauty of this place, Quin recently exchanged her 32-year career as a North Carolina public school art teacher for a vibrant new chapter as a full-time artist.
Student Artist of the Month
Lena Robinson
But that’s not all! BSG is buzzing with excitement as we also introduce our Student Artist of the Month.
This January, the spotlight shines on the talented Lena Robertson who is currently an undergraduate student studying at ECU for a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in painting. Her current focus is to make each assignment a successful art piece. She enjoys using nature themes in her works painted in a manner that gives them a whimsical, dream-like aesthetic.
An Opening Reception is planned for both Quin and Lena on Saturday, January 3rd from 2-5p

Sarah Eve Ridgway
And mark your calendars because we have even more in store for January! Join us at the gallery on Saturday, January 10, from 2-5 p.m. for a lively opening reception featuring the inspiring artworks of Sarah Eve Ridgway.
Once a Respiratory Therapist, Sarah’s life took a dramatic turn when she faced a challenging, inoperable brain tumor. Instead of letting that define her, she embraced her creativity as a powerful way to cope with the ups and downs of her journey—just like the incredible Frieda Kahlo! Known affectionately as Sarah Sunshine, she keeps her spirit bright and has even started a support group in Pennsylvania to uplift others facing similar battles.
While she can’t be with us in person, her art will shine at the opening, and every piece purchased goes towards her essential medication not covered by insurance.
